Mrs. Kalpana, a female married patient, had a typical case of Dysmenorrhea which got treated successfully after giving the medication based of her behaviour and assessment of the primary cause for her problem.

For the past two years she was under my treatment and it was in the last couple of months I told her not to come as she is completely cured. She came for my consultation for approximately twenty visits.

She is a thin, lean and white in colour with medium height. When I met her she was not at all interested in my treatment. She wouldn’t easily be convinced for the treatment. One day her husband came to me hurriedly saying that she is unconscious with the menstrual pain and bleeding. I went to her house, examined her and gave her some palliative medication and then told her husband to inform me about her health in the evening. He didn’t turn up for couple of days. After two days patient herself came to my house saying that she is very much relieved after taking homeopathic medicines that I gave her and wanted to continue the treatment.

She had regular periods with severe pelvic pain during the first two days of menstrual cycle since her menarche (first occurrence of menstruation). Pain was so intense; sometimes she had to be admitted in the hospital for pain relief. She would become unconscious in pain. Initially when she came for treatment, she was on allopathic medications (OCD’s), but with temporary relief.

As per the case taking I found below details which were important for me to investigate her case. She is highly reserved kind lady who don’t like much talking to others. She keeps everything herself. Doesn’t like to share with others, she is not at all close to her husband. She knows that her husband loves her utmost but she can’t take much love from him. She has two kids and she said for the sake of society she had given birth to the kids. She is not much interested in sexual life. She wants to be alone. She does her household things neatly and prefers to be confined in her own world. She doesn’t care much for anyone. She was abused sexually in her childhood by her relative, which made her lose confidence in the outer world. Till now she is unable to express her feelings to her husband. She doesn’t like to open up easily to others. Physically she is lean and fair in complexion. She knows that she is beautiful. She is having cold body temperature with reduced appetite and normal thirst. Bowels are good with no other notable problems.

It was very difficult for me to make her open up about her problem. In first 3-4 sessions she never said any word except “everything is alright”. Slowly I gained confidence by convincing her that her mental and emotional expressions are very much important to cure her dysmenorrhoea.

Initially for acute symptoms, I have given her Pulsatilla 200/ 3 doses, followed by Mag Phos 6x for every 2 hours. After her complete case analysis, I have come on to the conclusion that, for her troubles, Sepia 200 will be helpful. I have given her Sepia 200 single dose, followed by Mag phos 6x when she has dysmenorrhoea.

After a month, patient visited me with smile on her face, stating that she is able to manage her pain during menses. She started getting relieved of her menstrual troubles every month. Even though it took 3-4 months to get complete relief, she was comfortable in her cycles. Her menstrual bleeding was reduced; her pain got relieved, menstrual cycle irritations reduced. Leucorrhoea also reduced. Pre menstrual tension got reduced.

The case was pure psychosomatic in nature. Her inner suppressions had left the impression of physical suffering. Once she got relieved of her mental tension, her physical suffering was relieved. Now she is living and enjoying her pain free menstrual.

So, proper case taking and analysis of the case gives very good cure rate in such cases. Homeopathy helps in curing Dysmenorrhea, Premenstrual tensions and irregular menses and PCOS.
